Worcester, MA – With Women’s Leadership at the Center of our work, the Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition (MAWOCC) is proud to announce its Meeting and Celebration to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, MA from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM. This event also officially kicks-off the organization’s year-long celebration in honor of its 10th Year Anniversary.
Featured speaker will be Betty Francisco, President and CEO of the Boston Impact Initiative and Co-founder of Amplify LatinX, which will be followed by remarks from Congressman McGovern and an exciting panel discussion moderated by Colette Phillips, of Colette Phillips Communications and Advisory Board Member, a networking reception, and the presentation of the 2024 Annual Report and so much more!
“This event will be an opportunity for us to share with our members and the public the accomplishments we’ve made this year, while also reflecting on our achievements and progress we’ve made supporting women of color over the past 10 years,” said Celia Johnston Blue, President and CEO of the Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition.
“Over the past 10 years, we’ve been involved with many initiatives that have moved the needle to advance opportunities for women of color ranging from developing a Leadership Academy for women and girls of color, to supporting women of color to become more engaged with their communities, to advocating for legislation to address the pay equity gap for women, and programs to inspire better economic opportunities … All milestone achievements that we are incredibly proud of,” concluded Johnston Blue.
We would not be able to accomplish these things without the leadership and support of a talented Board of Directors, Advisory Board, a dedicated staff, and support from our legislature, partner organizations, business and the academic community. Collectively, we look forward to kicking off the next 10 years at our annual meeting!”
For the first time ever, MAWOCC will introduce special programming for high school students, empowering the next generation of leaders to engage in this impactful day. MAWOCC will also honor former Senate President Harriette Chandler and Rev. Dr. Sarai Rivera, former Worcester City Councilor, for their outstanding work in the public service.
